Fed: Canberra signals further sanctions unlikely for Fiji

Canberra has signalled it's unlikely to take further sanctions against Fiji .. because
limiting trade or tourism could be harmful to the people of the island nation.

Australia has already put in place travel bans covering senior members of military
leader FRANK BAINIMARAMA'S regime .. their families and the military.

It also has restrictions on military co-operation and parts of its aid program to Fiji.

But Foreign Minister STEPHEN SMITH says Australia isn't necessarily planning further
restrictions on contact with ordinary Fijians.
