NSW: Three parties to share balance of power in NSW upper house

The Greens .. the Christian Democrats .. and the Shooters Party .. will share the balance
of power in the new upper house of the New South Wales parliament.

The electoral commission has finalised results for the 21 Legislative Council seats
which fell vacant at the March 24 state election.

Labor now holds 19 of the total 42 seats .. up from 18 in the previous parliament ..

and the Liberals hold ten .. up from nine.

The Nationals now hold five seats .. up from four .. and the Greens now have four ..

up from three.

This means the Labor government will have to seek the support of the Greens or the
two-seat parties .. The Shooters and the Christian Democrats .. if the coalition won't
pass its bills.

The Australian Democrats have lost their single seat .. as have the tiny Outdoor Recreation
Party and the pro-multicultural Unity Party.

Human Rights Party MP PETER BREEN .. who was elected to parliament as a member of the
Reform the Legal Party .. and briefly joined the Labor Party .. also lost his seat.
