QLD:Man in coma after Gold Coast house fire

A 47-year-old man is in an induced coma with severe burns after trying to fight an
early morning fire that destroyed his Gold Coast home.

Police believe the fire started in a bedroom of the Coombabah house and may have been
caused by an electric blanket.

Detective Senior Sergeant CHRIS TOOHEY says police arrived to find the man trying to
hose down the flames.

He's in hospital with severe burns to the upper part of his body.
