VIC:Mayor says Melbourne is safe

Melbourne's Lord Mayor has declared a small victory in the fight against alcohol-related
violence with only a small number of arrests in the city on New Year's Eve.

Despite the drop in the number of arrests in central Melbourne .. around Victoria figures
were up from last New Year's Eve.
