Vic: Shane Warne leaves for England
MELBOURNE, Aug 24 AAP - Disgraced cricketer Shane Warne flew out of the country lastnight as the woman at the centre of the latest scandal surrounding him prepared to tellher story.
Warne, wife Simone and their children left Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport last nightbound for London, ABC radio reported today.
He left shortly before exotic dancer Angela Gallagher was due to be seen on televisionmaking claims about a three-month liaison with the embattled sportsman.
Ms Gallagher, 38, a mother of two, told her story to Channel 7's Today Tonight programand New Idea magazine.
The program is expected to be aired tomorrow night.
Ms Gallagher claims Warne pursued and romanced her with mobile phone messages of asexual nature she described as "pretty full-on".
The latest accusation follows those made by South African Helen Cohen Alon that Warnehad sent her lurid text messages.
Warne on Friday broke his public silence to declare he was going into self-imposedcricket exile. But he dispelled rumours he would quit the game.
He said he would withdraw from all official training until his 12-month ban for takinga banned diuretic ended next February.
But Warne refused to field questions or talk about his private life.
"At this stage any issues or allegations concerning my private life are exactly that- they are private and I will not be making any further comment on those issues or anysuch issues," Warne said.
His wife Simone said in a separate she would stand by her beleaguered husband.
"Certain individuals are trying to destroy our family. This will not happen," she said.
Warne was involved in a phone sex scandal in England three years ago, in which a nurseaccused him of making lewd telephone calls to her.
